The Cloverleaf
© January 2006 - By Ben Moffett
(A Country Western song looking for music. Volunteers?)
Across the starting line she rides
Sue and her horse named Chief
Sue's a barrel racing beauty;
Chief's king of the clover leaf.
Sue knows she's in the money
If she can just beat seventeen
Chief dips around those barrels
And every turn is clean
Refrain:
Round and round, up and down
And through that clover leaf
A grand old time for a gal named Sue
And a pony she calls Chief
How I love that barrel racer
How I'd love to woo and chase her
But she's a teen. She's just eighteen
And she's in love with Chief!
Verse Two
She stands up in the stirrups
and she urges Chief to race.
Her hips are undulating
to her pony's frantic pace
She gives Chief a love tap
as they near the finish line
The crowd is on its feet,
and the clock reads sixteen nine
Refrain
Round and round, up and down
And through that clover leaf
A grand old time for a gal named Sue
And a pony she calls Chief
How I love that barrel racer
How I'd love to woo and chase her
But she's a teen. She's just eighteen
And she's in love with Chief!
Third verse
How I'd like to ask that gal
Sweet Sue to marry me
But she's a teen, just eighteen
I'm a clown of twenty three
We both work the barrels
She circles them on Chief
But I just jump inside them
To hide from a ton of beef
Refrain
Round and round, up and down
And through that clover leaf
A grand old time for a gal named Sue
And a pony she calls Chief
How I love that barrel racer
How I'd love to woo and chase her
But she's a teen. She's just eighteen
And she's in love with Chief!
