Creating Peace & Harmony With Rhythm
by Giselle Felicia Vivian, BM CHT

In a world where conflict and disharmony is rampant, many individuals have sought opportunities to gather with others to affirm a vision of peace and harmony for all beings on this earth. Since June 2003, PROJECT HEARTBEAT has been hosting a variety of rhythm-based music making events in Albuquerque, NM with the goal of bringing together the community-at-large to co-create a microcosm of unity and joyful sharing. The community music making events facilitated by Giselle Felicia Vivian, BM CHT, music therapist, wellness consultant, and drum circle facilitator, have allowed individuals of all ages and walks of life to come together and share in the joyful and powerful musical metaphor of the heartbeat and rhythms of life.

RHYTHM & SPIRITä is another invitation to the community-at-large to join in a circle with others to affirm a vision of peace in the world and celebrate the unique spirit of humanity that all share. Participants are invited to build a rhythmic container where individual self-expression, social connection, community and wellness are facilitated in a safe and respectful environment. No experience is necessary and instruments are provided for those who call ahead to reserve one. The process of entrainment to the rhythm facilitates a non-verbal awareness and group cohesiveness that empowers a sense of unity with others. While some individuals drum to relieve the stresses of daily living, others drum to play and exercise their creative spirit. During this event the drum will serve as a tool that gives birth to the conscious experience of community and peace. Please join us for an afternoon where we are unified by the heartbeat of humanity.
