National, award-winning wildlife artist and long time Bosque del Apache volunteer Skeeter Leard will be on hand at the Bosque del Apache NWR visitor center on Saturday, Oct. 15 to sign prints of her poster. The poster was created for the 100th anniversary of the Wichita Mountains Refuge in Oklahoma, and then designated as the poster for National Wildlife Week. The artist reception, 1-4 pm, offers music, light refreshments and a chance to view exquisite art and beautiful habitat. www.skeeterart.com (http://www.skeeterart.com)

Also to celebrate National Wildlife Refuge Week, artists Valerie Graves and Sandra Seth will be on hand to sign their new book Finding Refuge, a Safe Place to Land. "This book was a labor of love," says Valerie Graves, a Taos-area artist who frequently visits the Bosque. She is donating the profits from sales of this book to the Friends of the Bosque. Plus, Festival of the Cranes logo artist Marjorie Mullany (see www.friendsofthebosque.org (http://www.friendsofthebosque.org)) will be honored at the reception and her wonderful fabric art will be available. Digital Photographer Jerry Goffe will be on hand as well, along with the Junior Duck Art Contest Winner for 2005 Oscar Urbina.

Visitors that day also will be introduced to the new Festival of Cranes merchandise. Food and music will round out this event so bring the entire family and friends to join the celebration.
