Robert Ward is a Socorro resident with a great love for history. That's no surprise. After all, he is a trained historian. But more than that, Bob loves historical research.. In fact, we'd venture to say if a dusty old stack of papers, books or documents exists in Socorro that Bob hasn't left his fingerprints on, it's only because he was wearing gloves that day! :p

The truth is, he'd only lived in Socorro a few months when he was elected President of the Local Historical Society. But Bob's not the type to blow his own horn about such things. So we'll do it for him, okay?

Bob not only enjoys historical research and stuff like that, he's very good at it too! So, when we asked if he'd host a History/Herstory Journal for Steppin' Out, his answer was an enthusiastic, "Heck, yes!" :D

In addition to being a trained historian, Bob is also a respected and experienced genealogist. In fact, it's safe to say he knows ways to find out things about your great grandmother your great grand-dad didn't know!

We learned long ago Bob is a walking fountain of knowledge when it comes to little known but interesting history facts of almost every sort. Ask him a question and you'll see what we mean!

If you have some question you've pondered about Socorro or New Mexico history, Bob is the perfect guy to ask. If he doesn't know the answer, you can bet it won't be long before he does. And the best part is along the way, he's very likely to learn some things that add spice to the story and bring it to life! So, if you have a history-related question you want answered, take a moment and post it here in Bob's Journal and Web Log. That's what's known as a "Blog" for those of you who've wondered what the heck a "Blog" is.

That said, we warmly welcome Bob Ward to the Steppin Out Web Community and look forward to learning lots of interesting historical tidbits from him! Read his column and you'll see why we invited him. He's a walking encyclopedia of interesting information! ;)
