Mountainair, NM – In the Manzano Mountains August means sunflowers, and in Mountainair August means the Sunflower Festival. Cibola Arts Gallery will have their group “Sunflower Show” running the month of August with an open house on August 22nd from 2-4 pm as part of Mountainair’s Sunflower Festival.

There will be lots of new art work as part of the Sunflower Shower as the Cibola artists have been busy preparing work with this theme in mind. All three photography artists, Madeline Gutwein, Ann Adams, and Marilyn Conway, will have framed and unframed prints and greeting cards featuring this flower of the hour.

And there will also be Addie Draper’s oil Southwestern landscapes, Dee Melaragno’s whimsical oils, Deb Vetterman’s portraits and landscapes, Lois Minnick’s and Shirley Simmon’s New Mexico landscapes in oil, Celeste Simon’s multi-media painting, and Timothy Wylie’s sacred imagery to capture the light and texture of August in New Mexico. New artists Dianne Doan and Edith Zielinski will have their pastel and water color art respectively.

Cibola Arts ceramic artists include Tomas Wolf, Doris Burton-Minnick, and Ron Minnick. Susan Aulde and Doris Burton offer a variety of glass art including wind chimes, letter openers, and jewelry. Jewelry by Mary Schultz will also be available. Jack Anderson will show his glass and wood art, and Chris Tegard his wood pens and bottle stoppers, and Lori Wills her hand-woven shawls.

To round out the gallery offerings there is Anne Ravenstone offering tin and barnwood art and Madeline Gutwein and Susan Probert creating wood-burned and painted gourd art.

Come out to Mountainair and experience the wonders of August in the Manzanos!

Cibola Arts Gallery is located at 217 W. Broadway in Mountainair. Food and drink will be served during the opening. Gallery hours are 10-5 Tuesday through Sunday. For more information call 847-0324 or visit Cibola Arts website at: www.
